Mengchao Wu is the artist behind Wu Ceramics, a proudly woman and poc-owned ceramic studio based near Victoria Park in Kitchener, Ontario.

I think the adaptability of clay is what first drew me in. You can squish it, stretch it, tear it and form it into whatever you desire, or return it back to its original sticky state. Yet, under the right conditions of heat and time, it becomes one of the most enduring objects. I love that dichotomy of mutability and endurance and I can wax poetic about how cool it is to be practicing an art form that has thousands of years of history across cultures, but mostly, I like it because it’s fun to play with and I love how it feels between my hands.
